Year 3 have been working really hard over the last few weeks to develop their understanding about plants. We started in Science by talking about what plants need to live and labelling parts of a plant. We then moved onto looking at different types of bulb and seeds. They loved rehydrating soil and planting their own daffodil bulbs ready for Spring. We have talked about how we are going to help them grow over the coming months, and the fact that it will take quite a long time!
In Art our focus has also been on plants. We have been watching some red Carnations (the national flower of Spain) bloom in our classroom over the past week. Today the children had the opportunity to do an observational drawing of the flowers. I was really impressed by the detail that they managed to include. The results were fantastic and we have some stunning work that I will be displaying in the classroom. They were very keen to bring the flowers home to share with you.
